Every place worth its weight in salt has a few attractions that separate it from the rest of the world. I’ve decided to compile a small and humble list of six tourist attractions you can enjoy in Cincinnati. To avoid repeating myself, I will try and exclude some of the places I’ve mentioned in my other posts.
Cincinnati Art Museum
We love art and are not ashamed of including things in it that are not paintings and sculptures. The museum features Treasures of the Spanish World, Women Breaking Boundaries, and a number of online exhibitions, including the stories of Rembrandt, Robert S. Duncanson, and Bernard Silberstein’s photos of Frida Kahlo. You can also see some furniture and ceramics made by the artists that were either born or trained in Cincinnati.
Cincinnati Observatory
If you love looking at the stars, you need to look no further than the Cincinnati Observatory, the birthplace of American astronomy. There are many public events, including classes for school programs. The purpose of this site is to maintain and promote the significance of the historical heritage of the observatory that has educated people about the stars since the 19th century. There are many events to look forward to throughout the year, so all kinds of tourists and astronomers-to-be are welcome.
Music Hall
Washington Park is the place where you’ll find the Music Hall, the venue that has been dedicated to music since its inception in 1975 and is, arguably, one of the most recognizable buildings in the city. You can find the Cincinnati Opera, Symphony Orchestra, and Ballet here. Some of the big names that appeared at the Music Hall at one time or another include Sinatra, Springsteen, Prince, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and many more.
Kings Island
One of the most recognizable theme parks in the country, Kings Island includes rides such as rollercoasters and splash rides, along with family-friendly and child attractions. It also features Winterfest, an event dedicated to bringing to you the sweetest and most traditional winter attractions, like Candy Cane Lane, carriage rides, Build-A-Bear workshop, and ice cravers. However, you can’t visit it just any time you like – the park’s hours and dates are presented on their website, so you can plan your visit. If you are worried about finding a place to stay, don’t be – there are plenty of hotels and lodges that you can book online.
EnterTRAINment Junction
I will be the first to admit that this spot is great for a certain type of people. Specifically, I am referring to those who love trains. The indoor family center has a selection of model trains and tracks where you can get in touch with your inner child and run miniatures. If trains are not your thing, there are plenty of other attractions and exhibitions, like the Mirror Maze, very easy to get lost in, and Clown College, a place designed by clowns to baffle and entertain you, like the tilted house.
